Facilities

Bricklehurst Manor School is set in the heart for the East Sussex Countryside, surrounded by inspiring views. Undoubtedly the children benefit from the homely feel of the school and we are continually improving facilities to further their education.

In the classroom

Each classroom has its own computing equipment, which is regularly extended and updated. The children also have access to the mobile laptops, therefore bringing information technology into the classroom. All children from the Early Years upwards are taught how to use new technology safely, and have controlled access to the internet to support their learning.

Children have access to an extensive collection of books and learning resources and are encouraged to use these both to support their classroom work and for leisure purposes. There are centralised fiction and non-fiction libraries, as well as select non-fiction libraries in most classrooms. All libraries are fully computerised and stored under the Dewey Decimal system. We have over 2000 books, which are continually updated.

In the building

Each individual year group is taught in their own classroom, where year groups may be split into 2 classes if we have a large cohort. Additionally we have an art room where all children have access to support their artistic skills, something of which we are very proud of at Bricklehurst.

The school has a multi-purpose hall, where assemblies are held, gymnastics is taught and a hot lunch is served in here at lunch time too.

There are many options for PE lessons in the lovely grounds and surrounding countryside. Children may be seen enjoying sports on the tennis / netball court, AstroTurf or in the neighbouring Sports field. At break times the children may also use these sites as well as a purpose built playground which is situated in the gardens.

Additionally, we also have our own swimming pool which is covered and heated and is utilised for half of the year. Every class is given the opportunity to swim each week, and extra-curricular swimming clubs are also offered.

Bricklehurst is very lucky to have such wonderful grounds and the children are encouraged to take an interest in their beautiful surroundings. As such, Friends of Bricklehurst have been fund raising to build our new outdoor classroom, Bricklehut, so that we can adopt some of the forest school’s curriculum and bring nature into the classroom.
