Being active is part of the rhythm of life at Bricklehurst, with sports lessons and well-attended clubs on offer every day.

We aim to instil a love of sport in our pupils, with the ultimate goal that they’re more likely to be found spending their down time outside, than they are spending it inside on ‘screen time’.

Our belief is that sport should be viewed as an enjoyable pursuit, or an avenue for friendly competition, but never as a chore.

Team sports like football, rugby, cricket and rounders take place on our dedicated sports field, followed by a ‘match tea’ in the school hall. This is also where we put on our much-anticipated annual inter-house sports day, an occasion enjoyed by all the family.

In our outdoor space, it’s possible to practice specialist sports, such as javelin or hammer throwing, while the garden-like quality is retained for playtimes, and areas are set aside for explorers, too.

Included within the curriculum, we offer swimming lessons from kindergarten to year six, with internal and external swimming galas for the prep children, all within our family garden setting.

During the winter, we we can use our school hall and floodlit astroturf pitch for clubs and at break times, to ensure children get crucial outdoor time all year round.

We compete with local independent schools as well as participating in national tournaments.

We have a number of our Prep Boys representing Premier League elite development football academies.
