Our warm and vibrant prep school community is a place where children are encouraged and supported to be the very best they can be.
Children enter our prep school when they are seven years old, either moving up from our pre-prep, or, quite often, from another school. New joiners will typically find that the atmosphere we cultivate means that they settle in quickly, and make many new friends.
Our prep school is made up of four classes, each with a dedicated form teacher at the helm. Form teachers provide vital continuity and pastoral care, and are qualified to teach all subjects across the age range.
Children are encouraged to immerse themselves in school life, and take advantage of the opportunities available, whether that’s Lego engineering, strategy club, sketching or archery, our broad and deep range of activities means there really is something for everyone!
Our curriculum builds on the firm foundations laid in pre-prep, and follows the broad shape of the National Curriculum. Children benefit from enthusiastic and inspirational specialist teachers for P.E., music, French and drama.
Our teachers work hard to ensure that every child is as happy as they can be, and a big part of that is making sure they’re learning at a pace that is suitable for them as an individual. Teachers have high expectations of both behaviour and work, and promote independent learning to prepare children for the secondary schools of their choice. Teachers are always happy to discuss a child’s progress and welfare with parents.
We prepare every child for entry into secondary schools, either via the Common Entrance exam, or through specific tests set by their future schools. Our record of securing places at grammar schools is outstanding, and our children typically achieve a large number of scholarships to independent senior schools.
Our holistic approach to education means that all of our children leave us confident, with the personal and academic skills that will see them in good stead during the next stage of their education.
What wonderful years our two children have spent at Bricklehurst. They have been nurtured, encouraged and given the confidence to believe in themselves.
While we emphasise reading, writing and mathematics, our children enjoy a wide and creative curriculum.
We prepare every child for entry into their school of choice, making sure that they have the skills and knowledge to pass the Common Entrance exam, Kent Selection (11+) or specific tests set by their future schools.
We offer a huge choice of clubs and activities which enable children to discover more about, and get more out of, what they love.
