In the Spring Term our sports changed from football to rugby, hockey and cross country. The boys in the Prep Department were very excited to be playing contact rugby again, although some fixtures were kept in the ‘tag’ variant of the sport. Rucking, mauling and scrums were added to the list of skills and pleasingly many girls opted to join in our after school rugby club. The profile of cross country running has been raised at Bricklehurst, in class lessons, Inter-house competition and in our early morning running club. Many of our children achieved very well in recent competitions being placed at both County and even National level, with Isabel in Year 4 finishing 1st in the ‘London South’ category and 25th Nationally of the ISA cross country competition.

The girls played hockey as well as netball competitively and achieved well in both tournaments and inter school fixtures at each age level. Bricklehurst hosted a netball tournament and our girls were fabulous ambassadors sharing our facilities and narrowly finishing in the runner up position. The prep girls also performed splendidly at Battle Abbey with two teams, performing well. For the boys it had been a case of, ‘always the bridesmaid never the bride’ in the Battle Abbey football tournament, finishing second in three successive years. However, hard work and perseverance finally paid off with a dominant victory in the tournament scoring fifteen goals and only conceding one! Very well done to the boys! We can’t wait to see what sporting feats the summer term brings!

thanks to the school for putting her into the competition and supporting her. It’s been such a good experience
